Athlete's Foot | Dry Skin on Feet | Foot Odour
Athlete's foot or "tinea pedis" is an infection that commonly starts as inflammation of the skin or webs between the toes. Signs and symptoms of athlete's foot include a scaly rash that usually causes stinging, itching and burning. Athlete's foot is contagious and when caused by fungus it can be spread to other areas of the body such as palms and groin. It can be closely related to other fungal infections such as ringworm and jock itch. It can be treated with over-the-counter anti fungal medications.
Dry Skin on Feet: the sole of your foot can get very dry and dehydrated leaving the skin rough or even cracked. Your skin can dry out in the warm weather or if you have sensitive skin or issues with your shoes. Cracked skin should be treated quickly, or the fissures can split further into the deeper skin layers causing pain and burning, especially on the heel.
Foot Odour:The most common cause of foot odour is sweating. The sweat itself is odourless, but it creates a beneficial environment for certain bacteria to grow and produce bad-smelling substances. These bacteria are naturally present on our skin. The front part of the foot is where it produces the most sweat. Therefore, more smell is created with factors causing more sweating, such as wearing closed-toe shoes for many hours.
